Description: Portrait of Wichita businessman and philanthropist, A. A. Hyde. Founder and owner of the Mentholatum Company, Hyde was active in several civic groups, including the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary. He listed his hobby as “philanthropy” in Who’s Who in Wichita (1929). The fact that he supported many organizations is illustrated in a cartoon in the Wichita Eagle. It expressed Wichita’s appreciation with a list of twenty-three agencies that had received Hyde’s assistance.
